There is a truly historic gathering of work at the Edward Hopper exhibit at the National Gallery of Art, open September 16-January 21. I can't wait to go see this.

Now showing at the Naro is Paris je t'aime. I wasn't super-impressed by any of the films, but they did make me want to travel around Europe again.

Seraphim Falls
This week's selection at FirstLook. Not to my taste, though there were some powerful moments.

03.16.07

Ze Frank
The other star of SXSW.

Why Twitter Matters
Ok, this is a good explanation. My main issue would be that no one I would like to be in that constant contact with would use it. I could maybe see it being useful for me if I could easily update my clients throughout the workday.

03.12.07

Twitter seemed to generate the most buzz at SXSW this past weekend. Am I a bad web junkie if I still don't "get it"?

03.03.07

Inside The Boot
News, events, and information about a great new restaurant in Ghent which features all fresh, local Virginia foods. From the owners of Relative Theory.

Amazing Grace
This week's selection at FirstLook. I don't usually like this type of movie, but I really responded to this. Probably because I knew going into it that it is a relatively accurate portrayal of the historic events. I just loved how deep and important these ideas are to this day.

02.12.07

Black Snake Moan
This week's selection at FirstLook. Beautiful and disturbing and tense and amazing. Truly incredible casting and performances. I loved this pulpy tale of sin and redemption and love.

Note: the marketing is a hideously inaccurate indication of the tone of the film.

02.05.07

TAO Special Ones CD release Concert and Party
A benefit for Tidewater Arts Outreach, this show brought together some excellent musicians, and was my first experience at the unique Granby Theater.

Mercy Creek was my favorite by far.

02.01.07

The Warm It! Series events start tonight at the Chrysler Museum. As a For Art's Sake board member, I'll be volunteering my bartending services :)

01.29.07

The Astronaut Farmer from the Polish brothers was this week's selection at the Naro FirstLook Film Forum. I didn't love it, but it did provoke some good discussion about the individual vs. the establishment, among other themes.
